Compagnia dello Zukkero: the people behind the BelBoBru video

Compagnia dello Zukkero

Alessandra Ermilli and Riccardo Marziali

The two met up in 2000 and decided to set up the Compagnia dello Zukkero. They believe that a work of art has to be created “together’, and be the product of several artistic sensitivities.
Based in Bologna, Italy, they are the main video makers of the BelBoBru project and have been busy making an experimental video documentary called ‘Why, why, why not?’. The 20-minute video is a mix of moving images from the workshops, rehearsals and parades that took place over the course of the two-year project and leading to “The Silence Performance”.
According to them, “Diversity and equality are the spirit of the three BelBoBru parades and the ‘leitmotif’ of our video project.”
“Different cultures, ethnic groups, social classes, ages and nationalities all work together and mix together throughout these parades. So the video camera will be there to observe and play with all that unfolds in front of its lens, in a kaleidoscope of colours, moods and friendships.” they write.
